Truma tankless water heater

Does anyone have a recommendation for protecting the flue fan from wasps/mud doppers? Covering the flue fan with some sort of galvanized or stainless steel mesh would be my best guess, but always looking for outside input. Not sure how hot that area of the water heater gets during normal operation because ours is currently not working due to a flue fan failure (presumably from a mud wasp nest inside the flue duct. Any input is greatly appreciated!

You want some sort or small screen on the whole inside and problem solved. You also want to put a screen cover on the Truma I take and exhaust vents. Go online for the second items.
