I was sanitizing the water system on my newly purchased 2018 Unity twin bed.  I followed the procedure in the manual pretty much.  I used two cups of bleach in five gallons of water, and used the "winterize" setting to pump it into the tank.  I ran the sinks and shower for a few minutes and let it sit for four hours.  Then I ran the sinks and shower until the fresh water tank was empty.  I filled up the tank again and drained it by using faucets and shower to get all the chlorine out. 

The black and grey tanks were empty when I started, but I noticed the black tank gradually filling up even though I was not using the toilet.  I turned off the bathroom faucet and the black tank stopped filling.  I was surprised by this.  I thought the sinks and shower went into the grey tank.  The bathroom sink does seem to go into the black tank.  I guess everyone else already knew about this, but I was surprised.

Interesting? It must be a safety thing with an overflow line connected to the black tank. I think the Gray tank is smaller than the fresh water so maybe that is the reason. Good observation. Hopefully someone has the answer. Let's just hope that the black cannot go the other way to the grey tank.

The level for the black may be partially or fully open. When open, grey tank equalizes into black tank. Make sure it is pushed completely closed.

The reason for this is to use your grey water to help clean out your black tank when dumping.

For what ever reason the bathroom sink drains to the black tank.

I was told it’s configured this way to get a bit of soapy water into the black tank and also as a means to not overburden the tank with too much solid content. Aids in the dumping process.

When I took delivery I found that the dump levers for the black and gray were mislabeled.  I got splashed with soapy water when I tested the black valve - expecting it to be empty. (The toilet had never been used in the new RV). It wasn't an overflow as hypothesized above since the gray labelled tank was indeed empty. We had just cleaned the sinks.

After flushing the fresh water tank twice, I had to flush it two more times to finally get the chlorine taste and smell out.  This time I noticed that the dump valves are a little awkward and it would be easy to leave the gray tank dump slightly open allowing gray water to enter the black tank.  The cable that goes from the handle to the gray tank valve is pretty long and has a nice bend in it.  I was careful to make sure it was closed, but it would be easy to leave it partly open.  MinneH2os has a point.

And at 3 years, I have to use both hands to open or close!  The cable is not installed according to Camco directions.  Curve too tight, straight for 12” after valves, cable clamped in place every 24”.  None of this was done on my 2019 WonderFtb.
