I am a newbie that has a 30' Winnebago Vista 29VE.  I really like the thought of rightsizing into a Leisure travel Van Wonder. The RTB package seems to work best for us.  Currently we tow a 2500lb Scion XB.  According to the literature that I have read, the RTB is limited to 2000 lbs because the hitch cannot be attached to the frame because of the garage. At least that is what Dean says in the video.  All other models can tow 4000 lbs.  Can someone please explain why a Class II hitch cannot be installed on the RTB.  I understand all of the extra weight potential with the garage, but a 2000 lb difference is significant.  Any thoughts from any of you would be welcomed. Any thoughts on towing or not towing would be welcomed as well.  If I finish my old VW 1964 convertible restoration, I can just tow that.....but want to understand the hitch limitations as it could be limiting.  Thank You!

I am going to change out my hitch this summer to allow me to tow my CRV. BUT I will have to monitor my weight and use an auxillary brake system (Brake Buddy).

I've not examined the construction, but I believe it isn't the extra weight potential of the items stored in the garage. It is that the garage itself blocks a direct attachment of the hitch to the chassis frame. The garage sits lower than the frame rails. The other floorplans have the garage above the chassis frame - so they are about the same width, but not as much height in the garage. So its a trade-off of form vs function.

Thanks for the replies.  That makes sense about the hitch and garage.  I would still think a good welder could extend the receiver to be able to attach to the chassis.  Ron S.  I am in Seminole, FL.  If you have an RTB I would love to see one in person.  But only if it works for you.

Sorry, I don't even have a Wonder. At the moment I have a Regency Ultra IB. Similar to the Unity IB. I wanted a TB but couldn't find one without ordering.

Just guessing, if you extend the hitch thru the garage to attach to the original Ford chassis frame, it just might work.  But then, you reduce the size of the garage, it’s a trade off.

How do you like the Regency Ultra?  Very similar to the LTV Unity as you stated.  Equipped pretty much the same. I saw them at the RV show last year and came away impressed.  I was not able to check out the LTV lineup.  A part of leans towards the Ford Chassis but I might be convinced to look deeper into the Sprinter.  Thanks for sharing.

Sent you a PM. I've got a pretty long list of beefs with the purchase but I'm not sure if I blame most of my problems on Regency or the dealership. It has been very frustrating. The Mercedes side has been very good and other than my 2021 Regency having a 2019 chassis (manufactured in 10/2018) and not supporting Android Auto (deactivated at the factory for some unknown reason) - I've no complaints. Still researching that issue.
I've noticed in running several Regency VINs through a VIN decoder that some of the recent deliveries, including RVs at the January Tampa RV show, were built on even older "2019" chassis. Some were without all the feature packages that we've come to expect from all the LTV and Regency videos. I rejected one Ultra TB which didn't have the 10" MBUX entertainment system and had a 65MPH limiter installed.
Yes, Regency Ultra and LTV Unity are just two different implementations of the same general designs. It seems to me that LTV does a better job in educating and supporting the owners. Regency documentation is very lacking. There's a difference in standard equipment that you need to understand when comparing prices. Ex: Regency is standard with Equalizer levelers and aluminum wheels but you pay extra for Winegard 4G/LTE. As far as components - Regency sometimes uses different brands (not necessarily inferior ones). Going by the videos I've found - the brands sometimes changes. Maybe that's a industry wide problem due to supply shortages (Covid19).
One Regency option I liked that I didn't see on Unity - blind-spot cameras (in the mirrors) that display on the 10" MBUX entertainment system when you use the turn-signals. Unfortunately it was broken on my unit and I'm not getting good responses from the dealer on when it will be fixed.

Because of the large and low hanging garage, there is not a way to attach to or extend the Transit frame out and support a normal towing hitch (not properly supported it). I will attach some photos we took at a dealer. We are 6 weeks from delivery on our Wonder RTB

Thank You for the pictures.  That really helps to visualize the reason for the 2000 pound hitch.  I wonder if the basement was modified to allow for the 4000 pound hitch is possible.  Maybe someone with a 4000 pound hitch can take a few pictures and add to this thread so we can see the differences between the two.  Thanks in advance if someone would do that.  Kyle, what are your plans to tow?  I wish you the best on your new RTB.  I bet you cant wait.  How long dd you wait for yours?  Any discounts?

I found Schaaps RV in SD last September by calling around to all US dealers. They had one in order fir a RV show that had just been cancelled, so I was able to take that one (build slot). No discounts. Frankly we were just happy to get one so quickly.
We are not towing anything, but will be off road a lot. So we are doing many suspension upgrades, a 2” body lift and switching to A/T tires.
I am having a custom skid plate with an integral steel roller made for the 1-1/4” receiver. This will allow the tail to drag on dirt or roll on pavement if so drag the rear end on a sharp incline
