Seccond Alternator

I am still planning my switch to lithium batteries.  Has anyone installed a second alternator that feeds only the coach battery?  I envision a high output Balmar alternator with external regulator that is manually turned on after the engine has warmed up and the initial load on the primary alternator to the chassis battery has settled.  The primary engine alternator would still be connected to the coach battery through a DC to DC monitor.  I believe the primary alternator output is limited to 40 amps.  The second alternator would not be switched on unless needed in order to minimize the loss of horsepower all the time.  This may be a good alternative to a large solar array for those constantly on the move and boondocking.  Any thoughts?

I would like four 100-watt Rich Solar panels, four BB 100-amp lithium batteries, a 12-volt 2000-watt Victron Multiplus Inverter Charger and a Sterling B2B Charger 12V-12V 60A, if I can get the $$$$$.
