A fellow traveller has a 2021 Tiffin Wayfarer and told me that the adaptive cruise control will turn off the cruise control altogether if it doesn’t register over some period of time any cars on the highway. This seems nonsensical to me (probably when cruise control is most appropriate) so I am wondering if it is some glitch in his unit. Has anyone experienced the cruise control shutting off like that?

We have less than 3000 miles on our '22 LTV built on a 2021 Sprinter3500 dually chassis.  Its happened on two separate occasions.  On our first trip, I experienced what I think is what you describe (cruise shutoff inexplicably while cruising at 60 MPH).  A warning appeared, something to the effect of "active distance assist inoperative").  I could not re-initiate cruise control during the drive time.  I finally found something in the manual, but i remained confused.  Strangely, cruise control operated like normal at one point the next day (I believe after several engine stops and starts  - short trips to store, church, etc).  I was about to deal with MB tech support, about my "intermittent issue"  but thankfully after reading several threads online, I'm self-service concluding that this is another one of those Benz nuances that I have to grow accustomed to.  The error occurred yet again on another trip.  But again after several "computer resets" by engine turn-offs and restarts, the Cruise Control on our unit again operates as one would expect.

I travel a lot in rural Ontario and I can corroborate that the adaptive cruise does indeed stop working very often in this situation. I'd go one step further and say, it isn't the lack of other cars but simply being in a rural area. I don't know why this is, but I can confirm that I get this around Angus, Ontario (which is odd because there's 12,000 people living in the area and plenty of cars on the road). So it's not simply the lack of other vehicles but just being outside of a metropolitan area.

It is because your sensors in the top middle of the window get bug splits on them. Clean off and about 5 minutes later you are good to go.
