Regarding to upgrade for 3.2kw diesel generator and 3.6kw propane generator

Hi everyone. I am looking I to getting a rv. I got stuck with getting which upgrade. They said diesel generator is more efficient. But my concern is, if the generator uses diesel from the tank. It will decrease the whole rv mileage right?? I assume the tank size for diesel fuel is the same. The reason I am asking Is because I don't Want to fuel the rv 2 3 times a day :o thankss for helping out and share the experience with me

Who said the diesel was more efficient  and more efficient at what?
I have the LP generator in a 2016 Unity - it has 17 hrs on it - so not something that gets used a lot so efficiency is really not something you look at with an LTV.
how/where you plan on needing one is the first question.

HI cbaarch, thank you for the opinion! I search online they said A diesel generator is more efficient and economical than an onboard propane generator. TBH I was thinking about getting a RV for the road trip. I plan the travel within the US and Canada. One Question, how could you charge up your battery if you don't use generator? is it from the engine or the solar ? Thanks you ! I am very new to RV

The coach batteries if set up that way could be charged via the chassis alternator  or solar or by plugging in to shore power at a campground.  You only need a generator if you are not driving a lot or solar is not good enough being overcast or you are not staying in a campground.
you do not need an onboard generator - you can get one that sits outside,  in that case diesel is needed.  LP or Diesel in an LTV Class B or B+ vans makes no difference.

We've had two Onan diesel generators in the last two Unity's & recommend highly.  We have a Golden Retriever & use the genie often to run the a/c.  Diesel consumption is very small, I'm thinking less than 1/2 gallon per hour of run time at half load.  Never had a problem, just be sure to exercise two hours once a month.
