Title: Tow Hitch Mystery
Post by: Ramble On on August 02, 2023, 08:28:57 pm
Hello All,
I have a 2017 Wonder with a bike rack attached to the tow hitch. I am the third owner and bought it this way. My conundrum is this: when I went to pull the pin out to remove the rack it would not clear the fiberglass housing surrounding the hitch.
Leisure told me the hitch was added after purchase so they couldn’t help me.
I hopefully attached a photo to illustrate exactly what I am facing. I can cut the pin but would face the same problem in reverse with a replacement is my guess.
Can anyone tell me what is different from your tow hitch install?
Many thanks.

Very interesting!  Can you flex the fiberglass enough to pull it out.  They must have done that to install it.
The other solution is to cut it off.
I have a pin in my Wonder hitch, no problems installing it.  Mine is 2019, maybeLtv widened the opening.  I will measure mine

On mine the pin hole is little foreword of the fiberglass panel!  So pin goes in easy.
I guess you will have fight it.

My hitch pinhole is foreword of that fiberglass panel so no problem inserting or removing!
You are going to have to force it.  I would use Gaffers or Duct tape, not painters tape to protect the paint.

Well Harry, I took your advice and put 2 layers of duct tape over the fiberglass, gritted my teeth and banged it out. It came out and went through the tape but it wasn’t too bad of a gouge.
I can only imagine this was a long pin because of the locking mechanism on the other side.
Thanks for your help.
