Title: Door hinge screws
Post by: Harrysalit on August 10, 2019, 01:17:03 pm
Unless LTV changed the type of screws they are using, sooner or later you will have drooping cabinet doors.
Mine was built Dec 2018, hopefully they changed them after that date.
I started to replace them with #12 pan head sheet metal screws.  They are a little larger and may hold better.
Some of the door hinges are attached to double thick walls that are 1 1/4” thick but LTV used 5/8” screws so I replaced them with
1 1/4” screws..  for the 5/8” thick panels I am using #12 screws 5/8” long. I will experiment with longer screws.
For some of the doors you can drill right thru the side panel and use a bolt with a nut, it will not show since it is inside the side cabinet.
So far in 2 months and 3500 miles I had to improve 5 door fronts.
Buy a handful of screws and fix it as needed.  You will also need a #1 and #2 Robinson screwdrivers, also know as square drive.  I am replacing with Phillips head, easier to find.

My tip of the day!!!

When you say doors, do you mean the upper cabinet doors?

Sure, 2 screws have come out so far from upper swing up doors.
